About me
Hi, I’m Slawander — an aspiring worldbuilder on a mission to craft a fictional world, that balances realism with functionality.
This blog is my logbook, a personal record of that creative journey.
Why This Blog Exists
There are many, many reasons why this blog came into existence, but the most important one is simple: fear.
I’ve wanted to be an author for as long as I can remember. But for even longer, I’ve been haunted by the fear of sharing my creative work. Even now, though I’ve become more open and expressive with age, that fear hasn’t completely vanished.
Still, I decided to take it head-on — guided by something my father used to say:
“If it scares you, then you should face it.”
And honestly, the thought of showing my work to the entire internet is scary. But I realized that running from fear won’t help me grow — facing it might.
This blog is my first step forward. A way to grow as a creator and as a person. If I can bring value to even one other person along the way, that’s more meaningful than I can put into words.
Why Worldbuilding?
You might ask, “If you want to be an author, why not write a blog about writing?”
Good question.
The truth is: I don’t feel ready yet to write the soul-stirring, bestselling stories I dream about. But I do feel ready to build the world in which those stories will live. A strong, believable, fully-realized setting — one worth getting lost in.
And that’s where worldbuilding comes in.
What You’ll Find Here
This blog isn’t just about finished worlds ready to download. It’s about the creative process, and all the messiness that comes with it — the lessons, the setbacks, and the breakthroughs.
Here’s what you can expect:
- Behind-the-scenes worldbuilding – Not just the final map or system, but how it came to be. Like a VIP tour through the factory.
- A beginner’s journey – I’m learning as I go. Expect transparency, no sugarcoating. Successes and failures, side by side.
- Discussion & collaboration – I’m not all-knowing. I’d love to hear your ideas, critiques, or your own experiences.
- Resources & thoughts – Whether you’re a fellow worldbuilder, writer, RPG designer, or just a curious mind — I hope you’ll find inspiration here.
- Finished pieces of a growing world – Bits and pieces of lore, maps, systems, languages, and more. All connected. All part of a bigger plan.
